Context for the Conversation

In spring of 2007 the college offered 411 different courses. Of those 411, twenty accounted for 50% of our enrollment and the top 10 accounted for 38% of our total enrollment.
The gatekeeper courses identified in the Achieving the Dream proposal are among the top eleven courses taken by our students. In fall 2004, pass rates for these gatekeeper courses ranged from 53% in Math 017 and 118 to 82% in Biology 106. Pass rates for English 098, English 101 and CIS 103 were 56%, 68% and 67%, respectively. Although it can be debated as to what an acceptable standard of success is for our students at CCP, clearly there is room for improvement.
